THE JOURNEY

Just because it’s simple, doesn’t meanits easy.

When starting with Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) it is easy to become overwhelmed by all the new concepts, a new way of thinking and a whole new system of anatomy called Jing Luo (channels / meridians).

Region-based approach.

Existing TCVM textbooks mostly focus on one meridian at a time, making it difficult to visualise the interaction and relative location of different meridians and points to each other.
During my Veterinary Medicine studies we were taught anatomy by region, a system that worked very well for me, so I decided to apply the same process to the acupuncture points.

Step by step.

And so the flashcards were born... first with a basic drawing. A very simple, almost cartoon-like drawing of a dog skeleton (with permissions paid for), formed the basis of the first generation flashcards.
As interest from other students grew, I decided to invest time into drawing a full sized canine skeleton based on various anatomy books

From flashcards to posters.

Drawing this in Illustrator, as a vector drawing, meant that the final product could be made into any size, however large or small, without any resolution problems, and so the posters were born.
It was a process, and with time the layout of the flashcards changed, improved, and were better and better suited for their purpose, studying and having a clear reference at hand.
